Volume Lagersysteme is presenting autonomous solutions for urban warehouse logistics together with Bosch Rexroth
At LogiMAT 2025 in Stuttgart, Volume Lagersysteme is presenting high-tech solutions for container storage to an international trade audience. For the first time in the history of the Dresden-based start-up, the company is presenting its expertise together with a global player: Bosch Rexroth. Frank Domke, Senior Business Development Manager at Volume: ‘This cooperation marks the next step in the field of automated warehouse logistics! With the combination of Volume DIVE and the Bosch Rexroth solution, we are not only breaking new ground, but also further optimising automatic storage and retrieval in urban warehouse logistics.’
While the automatic container warehouse Volume DIVE is on display at the centre of the exhibition stand (Hall 1, Gallery A47), an Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) from Bosch Rexroth completes the intralogistics solution from Volume Lagersysteme presented at the trade fair. Volume DIVE is an urban storage solution from the Dresden-based company. The patented robotic-based automatic container storage and picking system was specially developed for stackable standard Euro containers and has been on the market since 2023.
Volume DIVE is a modular storage system that also incorporates a special form of sustainability. This system is able to handle containers of different heights, depending on customer requirements. The ‘transport’ of air is largely avoided. In this context, Volume Lagersysteme speaks of an optimised ‘space-volume ratio’. Frank Domke: ‘In terms of the carbon footprint, Volume Lagersysteme is taking a particularly environmentally friendly approach here, as we can accommodate the largest number of containers in a single room!’
The throughput per hour is flexibly scalable. The system’s modularity, which also allows for sprinkler installation, can be easily implemented at heights of between two and 14 metres. The smallest version of Volume DIVE takes up just 16 square metres. What’s more, the individual modules fit through any standard branch door and can therefore be quickly and cost-effectively installed in so-called ‘back room’ warehouses of shops.
Instead of a long restacking, the containers are quickly accessible for the user. In addition, lifting devices are not required, since the robots can place the containers directly on the floor on each side or use other techniques. This is where Bosch Rexroth comes into play, initially as an example at the trade fair stand in Stuttgart. An AMR takes the totes that the robot has set down and transports them to the outgoing goods area. Conversely, the AMR takes totes to be stored at the incoming goods area and brings them to the Volume DIVE, where the automatic storage begins. The Volume DIVE will stack and unstack three containers for visitors to the exhibition stand. The interaction of the different systems is achieved by means of the simplest of interfaces. Frank Domke: ‘Our robotic container storage and picking system, Volume DIVE, has the potential to set new standards worldwide and is gaining additional drive through the combination with the AMR from Bosch Rexroth!’
Volume Lagersysteme GmbH was founded in Dresden in 2017 by Mikhail Voloskov with the aim of revolutionising intralogistics with innovative, space-saving automation solutions. The driving forces behind this were and are increasing urbanisation, the issue of sustainability, ever shorter delivery times and the shortage of skilled workers, which calls for intralogistics that are largely independent of resources. The first patented in-house development, Volume WAVE, was an instant hit: the ultra-compact, scalable pallet shuttle system, which enables direct access to every single storage location, won the IFOY Award in 2021.
